I purchased a 30RE on 1/5/12, after a three week trip I found a serious problem. The front cap was stress cracked around the street side clearance light at top of cap. Took it to dealer on 2/22/12. Just got it back today 4/6/12 !!! The cap had to be ordered from crossroads supplier, took a LONG time to get it in. cap had been installed with over torqued screws. You need to get on a ladder to see the cracks weren't visible from the ground.

The roof decking was also coming loose, wrong staples and screws were used at the factory.
Had to be re-decked with proper screws and staples. And new membrane was installed. Wow.

You might want to check closely on your units for these serious problems.

Quality control seemed to be a lil lacking. This was a huge warranty bill.

No doubt that was an expensive bill.  Don't recall anyone else having those major issues.  Hopefully you are set for years to come.

I had the same problem with my 07 Zinger. They put a whole new roof on. Glued and screwed. I can now safely walk on it. I had staples popping all over the place.

This sounds like a very serious problem that could warrant a factory recall. Our dealers should be made aware of this. I'm wondering how many units have the same problem.

I'm surprised the trailer had TWO problems that were this serious.

Makes me wonder if it was built on a Friday afternoon right before a three day weekend. Wink

These problems cause me to wonder what else may be wrong, that I haven't found.

We had the very same problem with the decking staples. The dealer attempted to repair it but it continued to leak. There were other major problems as well. Our dealer finally took the unit back and replaced it with a brand new one.
We also have a 30RE Our first unit was a 2012 built in march of 2011. The new one was built in February of 2012. Much better. Many construction changes were made after our first TT was built as we were told by our dealer. All changes due to failures experienced after deliver of many Sunset Trails in the beginning of the 2012 manufacturing run.

Now we are back to camping and enjoying our 30RE.

Did the dealer elaborate on any of the changes made between 2011 and late 2012/2013?

They did share a few changes.
1. Crossroads added wood blocks to attach the ceiling panels to. Prior the panels were attached to the aluminum rafters. They had issues with the ceiling panels coming loose and or falling down.

2. Improved the installation process of the shower enclosure.

3. Increased the axle size (weight rating increase)

4. Increased wheel and tire size from 14" to 15 "

5. Increased the size of staples in the exterior roof decking.

We also opted for the 50amp service with second A/C in the bedroom and upgraded insulation in the new rig. It's just cosmetic but Crossroads also stopped using the wall paper border and used wood trim in its place. It matches the darker insert that's in the slide out trim. Much nicer look.

Well, I guess I have several things to look for!    Just bought a leftover 2011 24RB, which is nice because it has all the extra features, but now you have me wondering about the construction!    I guess the good part is that  it's been sitting on a dealers lot for quite a while with no signs of leaks when we bought it, but it also makes me wonder if it that's because it hasn't experienced the flexing and twisting of being driven down the road?

I guess we'll have to see.
