Jacking up a Cruiser

   Dan, Very good information. Thank you.
I was careful on all counts. It seems to me that those non-pivoting hitches could be trouble just traveling into some campgrounds. When the pickup is traveling up a grade while on a curve something has to give. The mechanic at the dealership told me that they had a 5th wheel come in with the pin box almost ripped completely off. Now that's a bad trip.

	I have successfully used 2 x 20 ton bottle jacks ( one in front and one in back of the wheels on the frame) and wood blocks several times with success on my 335ss ( 9980 lbs dry). The trick to prevent frame twist is to make sure the trailer is hooked up to your truck and there are no jacks down. If your 5th wheel hitch has a cradle which allows for lateral side to side twist between the truck and the 5er the twist on the trailer frame is kept to a minimum, i.e doors will close etc). 	I suppose it depends upon your floor plan and where the kitchen is located. My gas line ends 12" in front of the tires. Enough room for my bottle jack. I used the old roll around floor jack and a stack of lumber to help raise the frame just behind the tires as well. As of 7:00 PM all bearings have been repacked, seals replaced, brake drums and shoes de-greased, drums painted, brakes adjusted, wheels torqued and cleaned, tire pressures checked. I'll sleep well tonight and pheasant hunt tomorrow. Life is good! Kamper Dave

	I don't remember what it looks like, but would think it wouldn't be to hard to remove the gas line? Could be wrong.

	I'll take a closer look and see how much room I've got there. Obviously, with both wheels off, the trailer needs to be well supported while I'm working under it.

	On my trailer the gas line is off to the side of the frame just enough for my bottle jack to catch enough to lift the trailer. Obviously it would be better for the jack to be centered on the frame but that's what they left me

	I need to jack up my 30skp to install a wet bolt kit, or Neverfail bushings ( haven't decided which yet). My question concerns the gas line that runs along the bottom of the I-beam. How do I jack the trailer without damaging the gas line?

	If i have a flat on the driverside, even with all the tools in the basement and being able to change a tire lickety split, Driver side, busy highway= cruisin for a bruisin.. I will be in my lawn chair up against the woods sippin ice tea waiting for murphy or a police car.. !.. lol :) Not worth it.
