Thanks Camp!  I'll check them out.  I did notice on their website that they offer discount tickets to the near by waterpark.  This may come in handy during our planned mid June trip.

Tee Pee Campground in Mackinaw City not too bad,Noting fancy but there are a few sights near the water,Has electric & water no sewer but they have a blue tote & hose they let you use if you need too.The cg has passes for $5 for the kids to swim & parents & Grand parents are free.If you stay 7 days 2 days are free,5 days 1 is free.We meant are kids & grand kids a few times there & had a good time,I never liked Mill Creek to many kids,LOL & the place is huge,But i do believe they have a community fire pit,Tee Pee CG does not have cement pads,You park on grass.

For real?  Do they have a larger community fire pit?

I'm not sure as I didn't get around much.  I hurt my back bouncing around in a jeep on the sand dunes in Silver Lake the day before.

If you look at the goofy camp rules flyer it says "fires only in fire pans".    So if you want a Silver Springs kind of spacious site with a fire pit big enough to roast a pig, Mill Creek may not be the place for you.

Even with the site size and the fire pan situation, Mill Creek still ranks as one of my favorites.

Mill Creek was great.  The sites along the lake are small, but the view was spectacular.  I got a picture of a rainbow extending from the camper out over the lake.

Not good for campfires as all you get is an 18 inch pie pan.

We stayed three nights on our trip around Lake Michigan last summer.  Would stay there again if we ever repeat the journey.

Too bad you need the full hookups.  Wilderness State Park on the Mackinaw City side and Straights State Park on the north shore are the crown jewels in the area.  But like most Michigan State Parks you need to fill your fresh water tank, get electric on site and they have dumping stations and of course, rest rooms and showers.   course the camp sites are typically large, and if you're lucky at Straights SP you may have a view of the laker barges trading through the straights.  Also have some of the best scenery in the area.

Mill Creek is like a small RV city.  Has the amenities, fellow campers are an arms reach away but does offer a short hike down to great views of the bridge.

Thanks for the suggestion and confirmation on review you have read... This is one place that I came across on rvparkreviews.com and considering.

The other place in consideration is Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping

I have never stayed here, but plan to either this summer or the next http://www.campmackinaw.com/home.htm
I have heard nothing but good things about this campground and the view from some spots I hear are just drop dead gorgeous!

I'm looking for some recommendation for a family friendly CG in / around the Mackinaw City area.  We'll be staying for about a week so a place with full hook-ups is a must, a pool would be nice as would sites that are level / spacious.

Thanks for your suggestions
