I found that the original square metal sewer storage actually damages and scratches the sewer hose each time I push in and out so I decided to purchase the best sewer hose made by RHINO http://tweetys.com/rhinoflex-rv-sewer-kit---15-ft.aspx and get a PVC pipe that will accommodate the Rhino hose. I took the RHINO hose to a hardware store and got a hard PVC pipe that is slightly larger than the hose, at one end I glued a larger extension that will allow the hose to go in easily with the fittings but will not allow the fittings to pass further into the PVC pipe (do not ask me the dimensions). A cap that screws on the extension
keeps the hose secured and easy to move in in/out. ![]() ![]() ![]() I use the original sewer storage place to store sewer hose supporters. It was fun. Edited by danshula - 27 Jun 2011 at 9:08pm |

Good idea. I have a small strap attached to my rhino at one end to pull it out because its a bit snug in the bumper.
I see you are a fellow Ontarian..... |

I use something similar to carry my back-up/spare sewer hose, although I did not put the bigger ends on it. Kind of looks like a potato gun:)

You could file the little rhino tabs down to fit the 4" connectors.

I might make one suggestion that will pay dividends in the long run. If you can hang your PVC Pipe UNDER the other hose holder instead of above it; AND drill holes in the bottom of the PVC to let air in and residual water out, you won't end up with a messy hose and hose compartment as it will dry out with air being able to circulate. Just a suggestion. Mine has done well that way and, I painted mine with a spray can of paint to match the bumper; in my case it was easy - BLACK.

Nice installation, thought about doing the same. But I have stored mine in the bumper for over two years and no sign of wearing a hole in the hose. Put the 15' in one side and a 5' extension in the other. You can get end caps for the Rhino to prevent any water from leaking out inside the bumper plus it give a little something to grab on to when pulling out the hose. It appears you used plastic cable ties to attach the PVC pipe, may want to think about stainless steel hose clamps as the plastic will deteriorate over time.

I did that at first but found out that when you go over a hurdle it hits the PVC pipe and sometimes rips it off. I have drilled some holes at the bottom of the PVC pipe.

I bought the hose storage from Camping world. But I had to file down the tabs to get it to go all the way in. Works for me.

Here is an option for you, get some little "L" brackets, Self tappers and some hose clamps. And hide it. I can access from either end and this holds two 15'footers. Rhino's All 4" pvc pipe

Thanks for the great idea and post! Until now I have been storing the hose in a rubbermaid bin in the front compartment. I was not able to find a PVC pipe larger than 4" at Home Depot. I called a plumbing supply house and for 5" with all fittings needed would have been about $80.00. So I looked online and C-World had them on clearance for less than half that price ($40 delivered). I installed it to the back side of the hitch and it works perfectly. |
