Mine haven't caused a problem yet, I just worry that they will get more exposure to road grim and break down faster then if they were snug against the frame. And I have not seen other 5ers with their cables showing.

I put the slide out today and looked. I do have the plastic channel and everything is attached and it didn't seem too flimsy.

Mine hang way down low - at least 8" below the siding. I figure it's normal.
